Description
Included in this collection are specifications by the architect, A. W. Smith; bills and one letter from Leon S. Bean, general contractor, 1909; an accounting for the cost of the house; a clipping about this house and one being constructed for Prof. A. B. Clark, 1909; a photograph of the house, with the Bassetts and their son David on the steps, ca. 1911; and two letters from Lucile Bassett (Mrs. David L. Bassett) with information on Prof. Bassett and his wife, 1981.
Background
Lee Emerson Bassett, professor of Speech and Drama at Stanford University from 1900 to 1938, built his home on campus at 740 Santa Ynez Street.
