Abstract: Ruth M. Shaver lived in Japan and studied Kabuki for many years. She also published a book on Kabuki titled,
Kabuki costume (1966). The collection consists of photographs, clippings, watercolors, sketches, theater programs, sheet music, notebooks,
and books related to Kabuki theater in Japan gathered by Shaver.

Biography
Shaver lived in Japan and studied Kabuki for many years; Kabuki is a form of traditional Japanese dramas incorporating music
and dance which is highly stylized with elaborate costumes and scenic effects; Shaver published a books on Kabuki titled,
Kabuki costume (1966).
