Description
Thomas Kimmwood Peters (1879-1973) was a pioneer newsreel cameraman who filmed the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire, the construction of the Panama Canal, and other events. He was also a motion picture producer, cameraman, and inventor. The collection consists of correspondence, brochures and miscellaneous materials relating to Peters' activities in building his own and Oglethorpe University's historical photographic collections.
Background
Peters was born in 1884; he became a pioneer newsreel cameraman who filmed the 1906 San Francisco earthquake and fire, the construction of the Panama Canal, and other events; was also a motion picture producer, cameraman, and inventor; he died on December 1, 1973.
