The original donation was collected by the San Francisco Maritime Museum. The materials were accessioned into the National
Park Service when the museum was made a unit of Golden Gate National Recreation Area and then were transferred to San Francisco
Maritime National Historical Park after the establishment of the new park in 1989.

The collection consists of 10 black-and-white photographic prints of yacht racing and a US Navy destroyer.
The photographs are primarily of sloops and yawls participating in yacht racing, possibly on San Francisco Bay. There is also
a print of the U.S. Navy destroyer IDAHO (BB-42).
