Biographical Information
Murray Reed Benedict was born in 1882 in Wisconsin. Benedict received his B.S. degree at the University of Washington. He
was awarded his Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University in 1931 at which point he joined the faculty of the University
of California at Berkeley. He taught Agricultural Economics at the University of California until his retirement in 1961.
Dr. Benedict died in 1980.
