Biography

Erik M. Lauritzen was born in Illinois in 1953. After moving to California, he studied art, graduating from San Francisco Art Institute with a B.F.A. in 1977, and from California State University, Northridge, with an M.F.A. in 1980. Mr. Lauritzen was a curator for the Red Mountain Gallery at Truckee Meadows Community College in Reno, Nevada, where as a faculty member he founded the photography and digital program, as well as two galleries that he curated for a decade. He also curated exhibits for the Los Angeles Center for Photographic Studies, Friends of Photography, and the Nevada Historical Society. He wrote articles, served as a Master Course Instructor for the Maine Photographic Workshops, and as a juror for numerous photographic exhibitions nationally.
