Abstract: Malbone Watson Graham (1898-1965) was a professor of political science at UCLA (1924- ). His published works include
New governments of Central Europe (1924) and
American diplomacy in the international community (1948). Ethel Gladys Murphy married Graham in 1921. She served as president of the American Association of University Women
and worked in the office of the Director of Naval Officer Procurement in Los Angeles during World War II. The collection consists
of Malbone Graham's correspondence, papers, printed materials, speeches, research materials, notes, manuscripts, and ephemera.
Also includes correspondence, papers, two theses, and a scrapbook of his wife, Ethel Graham.

Biography
Malbone Watson Graham was born on March 26, 1898 in Bogotá, Columbia; BA (1918), MA (1919), and Ph.D (1921), UC Berkeley;
taught at University of Missouri (1921-22) and University of Texas (1922-24); became assistant professor (1924), full professor
(1932) and emeritus professor of political science, UCLA; published works include
New governments of Central Europe (1924) and
American diplomacy in the international community (1948); he died on October 16, 1965 in Santa Monica, California; Ethel Gladys Murphy married Graham in 1921; she was president
of the American Association of University Women and worked in the office of the Director of Naval Officer Procurement in Los
Angeles during World War II.
Biographical Narrative
Collection comprises the papers of Malbone Watson Graham and his wife Ethel Gladys (Murphy) Graham.
Malbone Graham was born in Bogora, Columbia in 1898 and obtained his degrees at the University of California at Berkeley.
He joined the faculty of UCLA as an Assistant Professor in Political Science in 1924, rising to full Professor in 1932.
His wife Ethel, whom he married in 1921, was a President of the American Association of University Women and worked in the
office of the Director of Naval Officer Procurement in Los Angeles during World War II. Unless otherwise stated, the papers
listed below are those of Professor Graham.
