Description
Correspondence, memoranda, writings, newspaper clippings, memorabilia, and photographs relating to Young Men's Christian Association and American Expeditionary Forces activities in Siberia, political developments during the last stages of the Russian Civil War, and the Allied intervention.
Background
Marmaduke Raymond "Duke" Clark was born on September 23, 1889 in Orange, New Jersey. A graduate of The City College of New York and Columbia University, he found work as an exhibitor and an actor before being dispatched to Siberia as senior secretary of the Young Men's Christian Association, attached to the Czechoslovak Legion and American Expeditionary Forces, from 1918 to 1920.
