- Institute for Higher Studies [IHS]. Institute created by HW in the 1970s to, as described in the HIS publicity, "... engage in the study of the structures and systems that underlie and influence basic biolocial and social processes in order to arrive at policies that may provide solutions to pressing problem" and to disseminate findings resulting from those studies. Included a number of resident and non-resident fellows formerly associated with the Center for the Study of Democratic Institutions. Box 5.
