Scope and Content Note

A catalog of sound recordings made from 1902 to 1979, representing songs of the Yurok, Tolowa, Hupa, Karok, Konomihu, Wiyot, and Chilula Indians.


Items 1-8 acquired from the Audio Archive of the Robert Lowie Museum of Anthropology on the campus of the University of California at Berkeley. Items 10-11 acquired from the Archives of Traditional Music, Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana. Item 13 acquired from the Library of Congress, Washington, D.C. Transcribed from wax cylinder to magnetic tape as part of the Federal Cylinder Project. Recorded by Frank Quinn, A.L. Kroeber, T.T. Waterman, Weitchpec Frank, D.N. Lehmer, P.E. Goddard, R.H.
