Biography
Barbara Krader is an American ethnomusicologist, who’s researched focused on Slavonic folk music and music of non-Slavonic
Balkan countries. Her field recording expeditions included the former Czechoslovakia, northern Greece, Rhodes, Romania and
Yugoslavia. Krader’s dissertation focused on Serbian wedding songs. From 1971 to 1973, Barbara Krader served as president
of the Society for Ethnomusicology. In addition to her role in the Society of Ethnomusicology, she has been a reference librarian,
bibliographer, professor and a professional translator.
Scope and Content
Includes wedding songs, music from an agricultural festival, a festival of folklore groups, and folk songs from Czechoslovakia.
