Biographical/Historical Sketch

Hanna House, formerly the home of Paul and Jean Hanna on the Stanford University campus, was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, using a hexagonal grid system. Construction was begun in 1937 and continued in four stages over 25 years. The house suffered structural damage in the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake.

Description of the Collection

This collection contains documents pertaining to the reconstruction of Hanna House following the 1989 earthquake. Included are the full report from Rutherford & Chekene, consulting engineers, on the wall testing program, 1998; repair proposal and construction schedule, 1995; Hanna House Recommendations for Seismic Repair and Conservation of Historic Features by the Architectural Resources Group, Feb. 1991; and 21 photographs of the interior and exterior by Monica Griesbach for the Architectural Resources Group, May 1998.
