San Mateo Local History Collection. San Mateo Public Library, San Mateo, California.
San Mateo's historical photographs were acquired by the library over a period of years; most photographs were donated or
were commissioned by the City of San Mateo. Currently the original San Mateo City historical photographs are on a long-term
loan to the San Mateo County Historical Museum.
Items that are associated with the 101st Airborne were collected primarily during the 1970s, some materials were donated later
by veterans of the 101st Airborne.
These photographs digitized as part of a one-year project from September 2005- July 2006 in order to preserve the materials
and to provide web-based access to the contents of the collection. It was supported by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library
Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian.
Coordination for the Local History Digitization Project was provided by staff of the California Digital Library.
Project activities included conservation, photographic documentation, digitization, and cataloging.
