Description
Hobart Johnstone Whitley was a Southern California real estate developer, and head of the H.J. Whitley land syndicate. The collection consists of about 2000 pieces of correspondence, and deeds, accounts, journals, ledgers, minutes of stockholders' meetings, maps of Southern California real estate, clippings, photographs, and pictures relating to Whitley's land syndicate, as well as some personal papers of his family. Papers relate to real estate development in Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo Company, Corcoran in Kings County, Los Angeles, Hollywood, Westwood, Van Nuys, and the San Fernando Valley.
