The 1925 report includes his personal observations (11 pages); sample programs, schedules, and publicity; report by Mears (as the Round Table Secretary) on Arnold J. Toynbee's presentation on the Mediterranean area, with special reference to the Arab countries; diary of significant topics discussed; a photograph of the participants; and printed proceedings of earlier sessions of the Institute (1921-23).

Biographical/Historical Sketch

Mears (1889-1946) was on the Stanford faculty from 1921 until his death in 1946, teaching in the Department of Economics and the Graduate School of Business, and serving as a director of the Hoover Library. He earned his A.B. (1910) and M.B.A. (1912) at Harvard and was U.S. trade commissioner in Turkey, 1919-1920.
