Biography
Gary Franklin is best known as KCBS' entertainment reporter-critic. He received the Los Angeles Press Club award in 1983.
Scope and Content
Collection consists of oversize black and white mounted photographs taken by Gary Franklin. The majority of the photographs
were taken during the late 1970s to early 1980s; with a very small number of imageds shot in the early 1950s and late 1960s.
The bulk of photographs are primarily political figures and entertainers interviewed and covered by Franklin in his capacity
as both news and entertainment reporter. Among those photographed are Kirk Douglas, Cher, Broderick Crawford, Dwight D. Eisenhower,
Gerald Ford, Gene Hackman, Jim Henson, Charleton Heston, Lyndon G. Johnson, Bobby Kennedy, Shari Lansing, Ronald Reagan and
others. Additionally there are photographs of various locations including Los Angeles area studios such as Disney, T.B.S.,
Twentieth Century Fox and Universal.
