Inventories Series 1

Scope and Contents note

This series contains printed book descriptions, book lists, book collection lists, descriptions and lists for manuscript, autograph, and map collections, and papers relating to items published by the Heritage Bookshop. Folders are undated but items date from the early 1970s to approximately 2000.

Arrangement note

This series is organized into four subseries:

Subseries 1.1. Book descriptions;
Subseries 1.2. Book lists and book collections;
Subseries 1.3. Manuscript, autograph, and map collections;
Subseries 1.4. Items published by the Heritage Bookshop.

Book Descriptions Subseries 1.1

Scope and Contents note

This subseries contains printed book descriptions used to describe a book's contents, appearance, and condition for use in selling rare books. The book descriptions are housed in folders titled by author's last name, subject, or general work title.

Arrangement note

This subseries is arranged into three groups: the first group of book descriptions appears alphabetically, the second group is the remainder of non-alphabetically arranged items, and the third category is of miscellaneous book descriptions.

Scope and Contents note

This series contains invoices for items sold by the Heritage Book Shop to various clients, items sold on consignment for others, and items sold jointly with other bookshops. The series also contains invoices for items purchased by the Heritage Book Shop from various clients, as well as invoices separated by subject or author designation, called "subject/author files". Not all folders are dated but items date from the early 1970s to approximately 2000.

Scope and Contents note

This subseries contains invoices for items sold by the Heritage Book Shop to other bookstores, libraries, universities, and individuals. The subseries also contains folders of consignment sale invoices, invoices from joint sales with E. Joseph Bookseller and James Cummins Bookseller, and other invoices. Not all years have a complete range of alphabetical files, and a few years are missing.

Arrangement note

This subseries is arranged into three categories: sales invoices, consignment sales invoices and papers, and joint sales invoices and papers. Sales invoices are arranged first chronologically, then alphabetically. Miscellaneous sales invoices follow next, arranged chronologically. Consignment files, joint sales, and all other sales invoices are arranged numerically by box number within each category.
