    Scope and Content

The collection consists of materials related to the production, promotion and/or programming activities of television shows aired by the American Broadcasting Company (ABC). The materials appear to have belonged to offices handling promotion and/or programming procedures at the network as described by Harold (Hal) Garb, a correspondent in the files. (Garb was not personally acquainted with the Walt Disney Production files, most of which date previous to his arrival.) The bulk of the collection dates from the 1956-1959 and 1962-1974. Included are scripts, programming and/or promotional information, and production information from a variety of television shows, such as Griff (1973-1974), The Streets of San Francisco (1972-1973), and Walt Disney Productions such as The Mickey Mouse Club (1954-1959). The production, cprograming, and promotional material may include network memos, cast sheets, shooting schedules, story outlines, photo shoot orders, development reports and biographical sketches. Additionally there is script material, including a script written by Rod Serling, for a series titled The New People (1968).
Walt Disney Productions files appear to have been generated by Walt Disney Productions and copied to the network. It is not clear what office at ABC (if any) these files came from. They form a self-contained unit of materials exclusively associated with Disney television productions, which happen to have aired on ABC.
