Abstract: Producer Bob Jefford's career included theatre, television and motion pictures. The collection consists of project files
containing production material and/or scripts for a number of motion picture and television projects. Among the forty television
projects are
Barnaby Jones,
Cannon,
Murphy Brown,
Spenser for Hire, and
The Streets of San Francisco. Among the other television projects documented in the collection are
CHiPs,
Logans' Run,
Most Wanted, and
The Yellow Rose. The motion picture productions include
Battle for the Planet of the Apes and
Brainstorm

Biography
Bob Jeffords was born August 9, 1939 in Chicago, IL. He started working as a technical director in Summer Stock and Off-Broadway
in 1956 when he was still in high school. He graduated from Queens College, NY in the late 1950s. He worked his way through
college learning many technical aspects of theater. Upon graduation, he became Associate Producer of Theatre in Education.
In 1963 he worked as a stage manager for the Metropolitan Opera.
He relocated to Hollywood to study film production. In 1971 Jeffords was accepted into the Assistant Director Training Program
in conjunction with the Directors Guild of America. His career included many television series, such as
Barnaby Jones,
Cannon,
Murphy Brown,
Spenser for Hire, and
The Streets of San Francisco; mini-series such as
Centennial; motion pictures such as
Brainstorm,
Battle for the Planet of the Apes, and
Blazing Saddles; and many made for TV movies and commercials.
Jeffords was an active member of the Directors Guild of America since the early 1970s, and served on the National Board of
the Guild. Additionally he was elected to the Assistant Director/Unit Production Manager Council, and served as Chairperson
and first Vice-Chair over his 17-year association with the group. He received Directors Guild, Emmy and Humanitas awards for
his involvement on the popular television series, Murphy Brown as Producer/UPM. In 1998 he was awarded the Directors Guild
of America's Frank Capra Achievement Award for outstanding career achievement and service to the organization. Jeffords died
from cancer on November 19, 2002.
Scope and Content
The collection consists of papers related to the career of producer, Bob Jeffords. Included are project files containing
production material and/or scripts for a number of motion picture and television projects. The files may include call sheets,
production reports, shooting schedules, cast and crew lists, budget information, and other information related to production.
The motion picture projects include
Battle for the Planet of the Apes and
Brainstorm, among others. Notably absent are materials related to
Blazing Saddles. The television material includes files for close to forty projects. The bulk of the files document production for the
series
Barnaby Jones,
Cannon,
Murphy Brown,
Spenser for Hire, and
The Streets of San Francisco. Among the other television projects documented in the collection are
CHiPs,
Logans' Run,
Most Wanted, and
The Yellow Rose.
