Description
This folder contains three items: one approved application for US citizenship for Cole drafted by Solano County clerk Joseph P. Vaughn on April 8, 1953; one property bill of sale from John H. Pickering to Cole on November 15, 1853; and one Solano County real estate tax form regarding Cole from 1859. The citizenship application contains a little biographical information.
Background
Little is known about James "Jim" Cole except that he was born in Great Britian in approximately 1815. On May 8, 1847 he filed an application stating his intent to apply for citizenship, and he was granted US citizenship on April 8, 1853 in Solano County. He later maintained real estate there.
