    Abstract: The San Bruno Public Library's photograph collection includes images of historical interest of San Bruno and other areas of San Mateo County from the mid 1800s to the mid 1950s. Images document commercial, residential, and public buildings (notably Uncle Tom's Cabin, Mills Field Airport (later San Francisco Airport), Tanforan Park Racetrack, and Edgemont Grammar School); street scenes; neighborhoods; significant individuals; and annual events such as the Posy Parade.

    Project Information

    These photographs were assembled from the collections in the San Bruno Public Library and digitized as part of a one-year project from September 2005 through June 2006 in order to provide a single access point to primary graphic resources documenting the history of San Bruno. It was supported by the U.S. Institude of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the the Library Services and Technology Act, administered by the California State Library, in cooperation with the California Digital Library.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    The San Bruno Public Library's photograph collection includes images of historical interest of San Bruno and other areas of San Mateo County from the mid 1800s to the mid 1950s. Images document commercial, residential, and public buildings (notably Uncle Tom's Cabin, Mills Field Airport (later San Francisco Airport), Tanforan Park Racetrack, and Edgemont Grammar School); street scenes; neighborhoods; significant individuals; and annual events such as the Posy Parade.
