The collection contains items mainly pertaining to Russian diplomat Axel de Berends and his career, latter 19th century, in
Brazil, Sweden, Spain, and the Netherlands. The majority of letters and documents are in Russian or French. Also included
are notes and documents re research into the history of the family [de Berends / von Berends].
