Abstract: The California History Center collection includes images of historical interest of Santa Clara County with emphasis on the
western Santa Clara Valley, especially the municipalities of Cupertino, Saratoga and Los
Gatos, and San José. Nineteenth and early to mid-twentieth century agricultural, and transportation history, education and
urban life are portrayed in visual images from the general photo collection, the Charles Fuller family scrapbook collection,
the Charlie Baer photo collection, a postcard file and ephemeral items. Cupertino farming families such as the Merithew and
Dunbar families, Charlie Baer's automobiles and business activities, local churches, and Cupertino and north county schools
are featured along with landscape images from parks and creeks of Santa Clara Valley. Charles Fuller's March 1914 bicycle
trip from Sunnyvale to Mt. Hamilton and Lick Observatory is recorded through captioned photographs.

Project Information: Silicon Valley History Online
Silicon Valley History Online is a collaboration of seven institutions providing the first gateway to the major historical
resources of this important California region. Images dating from 1800 to 2000 illustrating life in California's Santa Clara
Valley were selected from the collections of the California History Center at De Anza College, History San José, Intel Corporation
Museum, San Jose Public Library California Room, San José State University Special Collections, Santa Clara City Library Heritage
Pavilion, and the Santa Clara University Archives. Items include photographs, ephemera, artifacts, maps and manuscripts. Selected
items were digitized as part of a one-year collaborative project funded by the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA)
administered by the California State Library. For more information please see the Silicon Valley History Online website at
