Description
This collection consists of black and white photographs taken of downtown Santa Cruz, California, immediately after the 1989 Loma Prieta earthquake and scenes of the University of Califoria, Santa Cruz Campus.
Background
Alexander Lowry has been making personal and professional photographs since 1957. During his career he has been a newspaper photographer and public relations photographer, and for the last 30 years has concentrated on contract work, primarily for educational and conservation organizations. Photo Researchers, Inc. in New York has represented his stock photography since 1964. He has taught workshops for University of California, Santa Cruz Extension and others since 1974. His photographs have appeared in more than 500 publications worldwide over a span of five decades. He has exhibited widely in both solo and group shows, and his prints are in public and private collections.
