Abstract: Journals entitled "life books," started by her mother, Julia Mann Barr, and continued by Doris until mid-1935, shortly after
her marriage to Dan Stanislawski. Journal entries are supplemented by letters, photos, clippings, and memorabilia, pertaining
to childhood in Stockton and Berkeley; the Panama-Pacific International Exposition and her father's work as Director of Congresses;
student days at the University of California, Berkeley; family vacations and trips to Yosemite, the Sierra, etc.; her professions
as singer and importer of art objects; her travels in Europe; social activities; and marriage and motherhood. The last two
volumes (1950-54), again kept by Mrs. Barr (this time for her grandchildren) give information on Mrs. Stanislawski's life
as a faculty wife in Texas and Arizona; her work for the American Friends Service Committee; and the family's year of residence
in Lisbon during Professor Stanislawski's Guggenheim fellowship. Also includes a photocopy of Mrs. Stanislawski's autobiographical
sketch, with related family documents and genealogical notes.
