Custodial History

The collection was donated to the San Francisco Maritime Museum by L. L. Klus on January 9, 1963. The materials were accessioned into the National Park Service when the museum was made a unit of Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GOGA-735) and then were transferred to San Francisco Maritime National Historical Park after the establishment of the new park in 1989 (SAFR-1).

The collection consists of 2 postcards of the ships loading in Oakland, CA and the USS California log.
The first postcard is captioned "Oakland, Cal. Ships waiting to unload." and published by the Paul C. Koeber Company. The second is a typed facsimile captioned "Fo'c'stle log, U.S.S. California" and postmarked May 20, 1911.
