    Scope and Content of Collection

The Santa Clara County Insurance Records consists of two binders filled with fire insurance analysis, maps, and photographs of county buildings. The first binder, titled "Board of Supervisors Santa Clara County Insurance Analysis," was created by the Pacific National Fire Insurance Co. on December 1, 1937. The second binder, titled "Insurance Valuation Survey for the County of Santa Clara," was created by Hall and Rambo, McChesney and Webster Insurance Brokers, located in San Jose, California. This binder's records range from 1962 to 1968.
These binders include fire insurance analysis, values, rates, premiums, costs, policy numbers, fire insurance company names, and recommendations. The fire insurance maps are color coded to notate building materials, hydrant locations, fire alarm box locations, elevator shafts and windows. Most of the county building photographs include the building's name and insurance value.
Photographs and maps include the following locations: alms houses, county hospital, downtown San Jose buildings, the county fairgrounds, court houses, boy's ranch, parks, civic center, and other miscellaneous locations.

    Arrangement

The records are organized into one series: Binders.
