This collection was transferred from the Santa Clara County Superior Court in 2006.

Biography

Mrs. Cora L. Black died in 1957 in Santa Clara County. Her will was contested by the University of Southern California and the University of California at Los Angeles. In her will, she gave her assets "To the University of Southern California known as the U.C.L.A. My entire Estate for Educational purposes. My estate consists of Stocks bonds. The house in which I live is to be sold and the money shall be part of The Estate. All monthly bills shall be paid by the Bank of California Who are to administer This Estate" (Estate of Black, 1962). The probate court decided to give the contents of the will to University of California at Los Angeles.
