Scope and Content of Collection
Eight Civil War era documents, affidavits re exemptions from military service by reason of age or occupation (e.g. potter,
tailor, preacher, justice of the peace), Sebastian County, Arkansas, 1862-1863. The affidavit by the tailor, Henry Kuper of
Fort Smith, for example, states that he already is making uniforms for soldiers.
