    Biography

Joe Ortiz was born on October 16, 1941 in Indio, California. Educated at the University of California at Riverside and UCLA, he began his broadcasting career in 1971 at KABC TALK RADIO 790 AM in the highly competitive Los Angeles media market. He went on to become an award-winning broadcaster, news reporter and newspaper columnist in Los Angeles for over 20 years. He had the distinction of being the first Mexican American in US history to conduct a talk show on an English-language commercial radio station.
In 1979, after experiencing a religious conversion, he formed what is now called God's Broadcaster Ministries, Inc. From 1979 to 1986, he traveled throughout the country evangelizing and lecturing from his first book, Saved, What Do You Mean Saved? In 2006, after 20 years of research and writing, Ortiz self-published an original manuscript as two books entitled The End Times Passover and Why Christians Will Suffer Great Tribulation.
While writing his religious treatises, he also operated his own public relations company, Joe Ortiz Associates, where he developed and implemented publicity services for numerous clients, including many celebrities and sports personalities. He also managed the press relations for many elected officials including former Los Angeles Mayor Tom Bradley.
Ortiz died on November 19, 2016.
