AIDS related cancers, particularly Kaposi's Sarcoma. Also included in the collection is a folder of correspondence, clippings,
and a photo from Dr. Ziegler's term as the UCSF appointed trustee to the Marin Community Foundation's Bucks Family Trust.
This collection contains ephemera, correspondence, research papers, grant proposals and research studies. The majority of
these materials cover the period 1981-1984.
The "Ephemera" and "Various Papers" folders consist primarily of the work of others, though some biographical information
on Dr. Ziegler (and an abstract for a paper) does appear in the "Various Papers folder."
Dr. Ziegler served as the Principal Investigator for the two American Cancer Society proposals (folders 1/3 and 1/4). These
two files consist primarily of correspondence.
Dr. Paul A. Volberding is listed as Principal Investigator for the NIH/Tissue Bank Proposal.
Ziegler was directly involved in coordinating the "Multi-Center Study of the Correlation between Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma (H-L)
and Kaposi's Sarcoma (KS)" which was accepted for publication in the
New England Journal of Medicine in 1984. This file contains correspondence and other data related to the article. The NCI Cancer and AIDS Research Proposal
also consists primarily of correspondence and other exploratory work towards submitting a proposal, and a recommendation for
approval of the proposal.
Also included in this collection is a folder of materials relating to Dr. Ziegler's service as a trustee of the Buck Trust
of the Marin Community Foundation (MCF). These materials consist mainly of letters and a few newspaper articles to, from,
or about Dr. Ziegler and his appointment in 1988 and resignation in 1990. Also included are several newspaper clippings and
