Biographical Note
William B. Fullerton was born in 1823 in Wolfboro, New Hampshire and died there at the age of 84 in 1906. He enlisted in the
12th New Hampshire Infantry August 12, 1862. He served for three years in the Union Army, spending most of the time sick in
a hospital, and then working for the Quarter Master's office in Albany, New York. After discharge, he went home to Wolfboro,
New Hampshire to take over the family farm. There he married and had two children.
Scope and Contents Note
This collection of letters covers Fullerton's enlistment in August 1862 to his final days with the Quarter-Master in Albany,
New York. The correspondence is mostly to and from his three sisters, Susan, Lydia and Mary-Ann. The letters detail his life
in the Infantry, and the illnesses that kept him from serving on the front lines.
