    Biographical Note

Helen Reddy (born October 25, 1941) is an Australian- American singer and actress, best known for her hit song, "I Am Woman". She was the first Australian to win a Grammy Award and to have three No. 1 hits in the same year. In the 1970s, she enjoyed international success, especially in the United States, where she placed fifteen singles in the Top 10 on the Billboard Charts, eight of which reached No. 1. She was a frequent guest on talk shows and variety programs of the 1970s and early 1980s, including The Bobby Darin Show, The Carol Burnett Show and The Muppet Show. In 1973, Reddy helmed the NBC summer replacement series for The Flip Wilson Show. The series, The Helen Reddy Show, had guests such as George Carlin, Redd Foxx, Albert Brooks, Gloria Steinem, and Flip Wilson, who often appeared as his alter ego, Geraldine Jones. Reddy was also a semi-regular host of the NBC late night variety show The Midnight Special from 1973 to 1975.

    Scope and Content

The collection consists of sheet music for the arrangements used in The Helen Reddy Show. These range from music used to play guests on and off the set and to introduce scenes to reconceptualizations of popular hits, including Reddy's own songs. Most of the pieces are arranged by orchestra leader Nelson Riddle; other arrangers include Harry Betts, Bill Byers, Lenny Coltun, Lenny Stack, and Michael Warren. Many of the arrangements are on paper issued by the American Federation of Musicians Local 47, The Musicians' Union of Hollywood.
