Description
John Montgomery (1919-1992) was a poet and the author of Hip, Beat, Cool, & Antic, (1988) as well as several books about Jack Kerouac. The collection contains over 100 letters from John Montgomery to Robert Frauenglas, discussing poetry, Montgomery's books about Jack Kerouac, and personal lifestyles.
Background
John Montgomery was born in Spokane, Washington on May 2, 1919. He received a B.S. in Economics (1940) from the University of California, Berkeley followed by an M.A. in Library Science (1958) from George Peabody College for Teachers in Tennessee, and an M.A. in Creative Writing (1964) from San Francisco State College.
