Description
This collection includes Kenneth B. Wilton and Alfred L. Ercoline's metal Bending Brake prototype, a display of samples of
sheet metal bent with the tool, the patent and drawings, and related correspondence between the Technology Utilization Office
at Ames and industry.
Background
Kenneth B. Wilton was born in the 1920s and raised in San Francisco, where he met and married his wife of 70 years. He came
to work for Ames in 1941, when it was the Ames Aeronautical Laboratory (AAL), a part of the National Advisory Committee for
Aeronautics (NACA). (AAL became NASA Ames Research Center in 1958 with the passage of the National Aeronautics and Space Act.)
