Historical Note
The San Francisco Public Library opened in 1879 after the Rogers Act, which created a board of trustees and a property tax
to fund the library, was enacted by Governor William Irwin. In 2015, the main library and 27 branch libraries make up the
public library system of the city of San Francisco, California.
Scope and Content of Collection
This collection consists of pamphlets relating primarily to World War I and World War II in Europe, and some relating to 20th
century European history in general. These pamphlets were collected by the San Francisco Public Library and bound into books
based on their respective categories. The titles are those given by the Library.
