Background
The Laguna Beach Historic Survey (1980-1981) was a city-wide block-by-block study to note
the location of pre-1940 buildings and to determine which had historic significance. The
Historic Survey was made possible by a matching grant from the County of Orange and the
State Office of Historic Preservation. The grant was given to the Environmental Coalition of
Orange County, Inc. with the approval of the Laguna Beach City Council. The Survey
Coordinator was Kathy Les. A portion of the work was subcontracted to the Laguna Beach
Historical Society.
