Description
Business records of George Crippen, early San Diego businessman and investor. The records document the George Crippen Investment Company and Crippen's partnerships with brother-in-law Frank S. Jennings, including the Point Loma Investment Company. Materials include bond and real estate sales documents, water investment documents, correspondence, and local and federal tax information.
Background
George H. Crippen began buying properties in San Diego in the late 1800s, founding the George Crippen Investment Company shortly thereafter. During that time he also conducted several joint investments with brother-in-law Frank S. Jennings. In the early 1900s, Crippen and Jennings formed the Point Loma Investment Company, which sold land lots in San Diego and surrounding counties, and managed taxes for various people as well as for the City of San Diego.
