Scope and Contents
This small collection consists of photocopies of published materials relating to U. S. Naval aviation in World War I, especially
around San Diego. There is also a photocopy of an unpublished manuscript written by Kittredge about his backpacking adventures
in the High Sierras with burros, and his obituary.

Biographical Note
A naval aviation officer during World War I, Kittredge was assigned to San Diego in 1917 as a flight instructor at North Island.
Resigning his commission in 1922, he joined the staff of the San Diego High School and served as a wood shop instructor until
his retirement in 1948. An active outdoorsman, rafter, boater, hiker, and parachute jumper, Kittredge built a boat named "Hobo"
in the 1950s and sailed it to Alaska.
