Abstract: History San Jose maintains an extensive collection of records relating to the Oak Hill Memorial Park (Oak Hill Cemetery) as
well as some information on Santa Clara Mission Cemetery and other memorial parks in the immediate area. Collection includes
a cemetery index of headstones, Oak Hill Cemetery ledgers and record books, city burial permits, news clippings and ephemera.

Scope and Content of Collection
The collection is arranged into six series:
- Series 1. Index to Oak Hill Cemetery and Santa Clara Mission Cemetery, up to circa 1880. The index includes name, birth and death dates, and gravesite location within the cemetery.
- Series 2. Oak Hill Cemetery Ledgers and Record books. These often include cause of death, marital status, and other data of interest to genealogists and historians. Their dates range from circa 1860-1910, with a few documents as recent as 1924.
- Series 3. San Jose City Burial Permits, 1890-1924. A very limited number of burial permits issued primarily for Santa Clara Mission Cemetery. No index is available. Years included are 1890, 1894, 1902, 1906, 1907, and 1924.
- Series 4. News Clippings, 1937-1994. Assorted clippings from local newspapers documenting the history of area cemeteries.
- Series 5. Ephemera, 1865-1970. 3 folders. Funeral home memorabilia, monument shop flyers, andmiscellaneous burial records.
- Series 6. Maps, 1925-1929. 3 maps. Three maps of Oak Hill Cemetery, undated, ca. 1925.
