    Processing of the Riverside Youth Concert Series records was completed by undergraduate students from the University of California, Riverside as part of the Special Collections & University Archives Backlog Processing Project started in 2015. This project was funded by the UCR Library and administered by Jessica Geiser, Collections Management Librarian.

    Biographical Note

    The Riverside Youth Concert Series was founded in 1962 by members of the Riverside performing arts community to provide affordable fine art performances to local children. The goal of the organization was to showcase local performing organizations, encourage students to attend local cultural events, and provide educational experiences to local youth. The Youth Concert Series provided theater, dance, music, and art events with the cooperation of numerous local arts groups, including the Riverside Symphony Orchestra, the Riverside Art Association, the Riverside Opera Association, and the Riverside Community Players, until the organization disbanded in 1978.

    Collection Scope and Contents

    This collection contains materials from the Riverside Youth Concert Series, including financial reports, meeting minutes, press releases, articles, correspondence, and notes. The collection also includes scrapbooks of events with programs, news clippings, photographs, tickets, and other memorabilia.
