Biographical / Historical
Katchadourian, emeritus professor of psychiatry and behavioral sciences as well as human
biology at Stanford, has also served as university ombudsman, vice provost, and dean of
undergraduate studies. He is renowned among students for his dynamic lectures and
approachable teaching style, and for a class in human sexuality that has attracted 20,000
students since he introduced it in 1968. His books include FUNDAMENTALS OF HUMAN SEXUALITY;
FIFTY : MIDLIFE IN PERSPECTIVE; and CREAM OF THE CROP: THE IMPACT OF ELITE EDUCATION IN THE
DECADE AFTER COLLEGE.
Scope and Contents
Correspondence, research files, notes, lectures, memoranda, articles, photographs, audio
and video tapes of lectures, and other papers pertaining largely to his teaching and
research career at Stanford University, with some materials from his association with the
American University of Beirut. Correspondents include John Boli, John Romano, David Hamburg,
Erich Lindemann, and Herbert and Judith Williams (concerning Anjar village). Also included
are his files from a research project on the Armenian village of Anjar in Lebanon.
