The California Faculty Association (CFA) Collection contains materials relating to the history and function of the union for CSU faculty, including professors, lecturers, counselors, librarians, and coaches.
The California Faculty Association (CFA) (formerly Congress of Faculty Association) is the union for the faculty working at all 23 California State University (CSU) campuses, including professors, lecturers, librarians, counselors, and coaches. In 1978 the State Employer-Employee Relations Act was passed in California, allowing for union representation of state employees and in 1982 CFA was voted to be the exclusive bargaining agent for CSU faculty, beating out the United Professors of California (UPC).
