over time by other staff of the Clark Library.

The title of this collection was changed in March 2023 by Rebecca Fenning Marschall, from "Grolier Club Collection" to better
reflect its content and provenance.
The Grolier Club is an organization of bibliophiles founded by Robert Hoe and his friends. It began in New York City in January,
1884, making it the oldest club of its kind in North America. The Grolier Club has a research library specializing in books,
printing (especially the history of printing and examples of fine printing), binding, illustration and bookselling. The club
hosts programs including exhibitions for the public, annual and monthly meetings for its members, and publishes books regularly.
This collection contains materials largely produced for members of the Grolier Club. It includes announcements for events
(meetings, annual meetings, and exhibitions), lists of events held yearly, publications for sale by the Grolier Club, keepsake
booklets for members, correspondence, and exhibition catalogs. Lawrence Clark Powell's club membership invitation is also
included. Items range in date from 1893 to 1999, but the majority of the collection ranges from the 1940s to 1960s.
Four printed announcements which were not keepsakes of the Grolier Club were removed from box 1 and moved to a folder in the
Fine Press Ephemera Collection (Press Coll. Ephemera). The folder is titled "Items from the Grolier Club Collection." This includes a Roxburghe Club meeting
invitation, an American Institute of the Graphic Arts exhibition announcement, a 1961 yearly events list for the Bibliographical
Society (London), and a list of publications from 1892 to 1948 of the Rowfant Club.
The collection is arranged thematically, and items are organized by date when possible. Undated items are put at the back
of each folder behind dated items.
