    Scope and Content of Collection

    The UCSB Department of Music offers two undergraduate degrees, the Bachelor of Music (BM) with performance and composition emphases, and the Bachelor of Arts (BA) Music major. The department offers graduate degrees of Master of Arts (MA) and Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in composition, ethnomusicology, musicology and theory; Master of Music (MM) in conducting, keyboard (piano), piano accompanying, strings, voice, and woodwinds & brass; and Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) in conducting, keyboard, strings, and voice. The department also offers combined MA/Ph.D. and MM/DMA programs. The department also oversees a large number of student musical groups, including: Chamber Choir, Chamber Music Ensembles, Clarinet Choir, Ensemble for Contemporary Music (ECM), Flute Choir, Gamelan Ensemble, Gospel Choir, Horn Choir, Indian Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble, Maurice Faulkner Brass Quintet, Middle East Ensemble & Ensemble Chorus, Mosher Wind Quintet, Opera Theater, Opera Workshop, Percussion Ensemble, Piano Ensemble, University Singers – Men's and Women's Choruses, University Symphony, Wind Ensemble, Young Artists String Quartet (YASQ), and Young Soloists Ensemble. Finally, the department also sponsors and cosponsors with other campus groups performances by guest musicians.
