    Abstract: This collection contains microfilm of selected documents concerning military reports, appointments of officers, trials, and descriptions of commerce and government, collected under the direction of George P. Hammond. They refer to Mexico in general but there is a strong emphasis on Northern Mexico and Mexican ports between the 1820s and the 1850s.

    Scope and Content of Collection

    This collection contains microfilm of selected documents concerning military reports, appointments of officers, trials, and descriptions of commerce and government, collected under the direction of George P. Hammond. They refer to Mexico in general but there is a strong emphasis on Northern Mexico and Mexican ports between the 1820s and the 1850s. The main topics are Texan independence, Micheltorena's government in California, the Mexican American War, the occupation of Mexico City by U.S. forces, the defense of Mexican ports, the Mexican War of Reform, and Indian rebellions in Sonora and Northern Mexico.
