The Case Study Houses are filed in alphabetical order by architect name and then in job
number order. Courtyard Housing and Cultural Heritage Board are arranged in job number

Scope and Content Note
Photographs for the Case Study House Program are contained in this series. The
Program was initiated by John Entenza in 1945 and sponsored by
Arts and
Architecture
. The majority of Case Study houses were built in Los Angeles
between 1945 and 1966. The goal of the program was to exhibit superior affordable
housing for typical American families. The contributions to the program represent a
broad scope of mid-century American modernism in residential architecture.
Arrangement note
The series is arranged alphabetically by architect, then by job number, the Case
Study house numbering system can be slightly erratic.
