    American businessman; president, 1927-1953, and chairman of the board, 1953-1970, Schlage Lock Company.

    1938-1940 Served as Vice President of the Golden Gate International Exposition

    Scope and Content of Collection

    Speeches, correspondence, reports, diaries, minutes, photographs, memoranda, newspaper articles, pamphlets, printed media, and other documents relating to the activities of the Bohemian Club, the Pan American Union, San Francisco civic affairs such as the San Francisco War Memorial and the Golden Gate International Exposition, World War I, and various national business associations. Also includes information on the establishment of the Hoover Institution and correspondence with Herbert Hoover, Richard Nixon, and Calvin Coolidge.
