He authored several novels, including Harm's Way (1962), The Sky Suspended (1968), and Commander Prince, United States Navy (1971). Harm's Way was later made into a film. The collection consists of manuscript drafts, galley proofs, correspondence, and advertising material related to Harm's Way (1962).

Biography

Bassett was born on October 18, 1912 in Glendale, California; graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Bowdoin College, Maine; joined the Los Angeles Times, 1934, and became aviation and science editor; served as political, city, and assistant managing editor at the Mirror-News and later returned to the Times; staffer with Vice President Nixon; reorganized and headed Republican National Committee public relations department; authored several novels, including Harm's Way (1962), The Sky Suspended (1968), and Commander Prince, United States Navy (1971); Harm's Way was later made into a film; died in Malibu, California, September 26, 1978.

Collection consists of manuscript drafts, galley proofs, correspondence, and advertising material related to Bassett's novel, Harm's Way (1962).
