Arrangement note

In 1874, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers was given the job of maintaining deep water ship channels which were previously dredged to provide access of the port of Sacramento to ocean vessels. Since 1933, the U.S. Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District, has been responsible for the planning and construction of the channel and port facilities.
